![]() Scales bounce off the roof like diamonds. "GET ON!" you shout over the PA, positioning your ship just below the raging dragon with Karengo attached. "Fen-sucked canker-blossoms," you swear, and take off quickly enough to make you temporarily light-headed and to make sure that anybody still standing behind you now isn't. Your admiration is cut short by two catastrophic crashes on either side of the ship.and a siren announcing that your shields are now offline. He lets out wild whoops of triumph as they soar through the sky and at last you can understand the appeal of this whole mission. The dragon is frantically trying to get him off, but creative application of his jetpack is, for now, keeping him on top of the beast. Jarengo is on it, and he's riding the dragon that crashed into you as you were landing, straddling it and gripping the ridge of scales around its neck. You turn to ask about him, but the sole standing member of the so-called Dragonriders is already staring at a monitor, his eyeballs threatening to pop out of their sockets. They beeline for the hatch and you drop a section of the shield to let them through, where all but one of them collapse, wide-eyed and panting. The Dragonriders need no further encouragement. "WE ARE LEAVING," you blast to the survivors, "GET ON BOARD." ![]() "That's it," you think to yourself, "This was a bad idea." You turn on the PA system. "Pignuts," you think to yourself again, when suddenly your shield drops to 46% and cameras show that one of the Dragonriders caught a tail to the back of the jetpack, sending them careening into your ship. As soon as it can, it takes off for another divebomb, leaving behind a trail of greenish urine dripping down through the shield and onto your ship. Your cameras show a fourth dragon regaining its footing, directly on top of your shield. You're distracted as your ship shakes again and your shields drop to 49%. The last Dragonrider is nowhere in sight. Eight of the Dragonriders are chasing the largest one which, you note with savage pleasure, is missing part of a tooth and has some blackened scales from where it hit your shield. You do a quick survey of the scene and see that Karengo has tagged three dragons with some sort of paintball gun to make them easier to track. They are faster, too, or perhaps the ones on "Xenofauna" had been drugged to make them easier to film. For one, the creatures outside your window are largely invisible - a trick of the way the light reflects around the scales on their hides. The dragons of Skymoot you saw as a kid were different from the dragons of mythology, but the beasts you see today aren't quite the same ones you remember learning about on "The Xenofauna Channel", either. You finally land and pull up every external camera you have to watch the action. Karengo punches the control to open the side hatch and, as you keep hovering in place, anxiously watching your shields recharge, he hurls the Dragonriders out the door before following himself. "Your chariot awaits!" In short order, he has double-checked the jetpacks on the backs of each of the men, or "Dragonriders", as they creatively branded themselves during their first night of the voyage. "Looks lively, boys!" Karengo is the only person still standing. A glance at your dashboard reveals that shields are at 72% - shields meant for taking charged plasma blasts and high-powered rockets in the depths of space. If you hadn't been strapped in, you would surely have been thrown to the floor. As you're putting down in a clearing halfway up a mountain, you hear an otherworldly shriek at the same time your entire ship lurches suddenly to one side. Karengo guides you down through the atmosphere of Skymoot, steering clear of the usual tourist areas and, you realize, of the local law enforcement. ![]() Relevant links: Official Site Steam Google Group Github Official Wiki Discord >!
